Sara Haines is an ABC News correspondent based in New York. She reports for all programs and platforms. Sara appears frequently on “Good Morning America” and covers a variety of stories ranging from entertainment news to digital trends.
Prior to joining ABC News in 2013, Sara was part of the fourth hour of NBC’s “Today Show” alongside Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb, a position she held from May 2009 to August 2013.
In August 2008, Sara began online reporting as host of TODAYshow.com’s popular entertainment video blog, “Backstage Pass.” She interviewed countless celebrity entertainers, actors and musicians for the blog and gave viewers a behind-the-scenes insider look at the “Today Show.”
Sara joined “Today” in 2002 as a production coordinator. She oversaw the day-to-day coordination for the production staff as well as the broadcast logistics at both Rockefeller Center in New York City and on remote broadcast sites. Prior to joining NBC News, Sara was a member of NBC’s Page Program.
Sara graduated from Smith College in Northampton, Mass., where she received a Bachelor of Arts in government. She is a native of Newton, Iowa where she grew up with her parents and three siblings. She currently resides in New York City.
